[ Thank God they’re not home and her kids are with Joel. Midge is now scrambling to put on something presentable and ends up just throwing a robe over her nightgown. ]

I guess I’ll see you soon.

[If she wasn't so flustered she might wonder how he knows exactly where she lives but then again, maybe not. She did give him some details and he is a clever bloke....

Either way, about 20 mins later there's a knock on her front door.]

[doesntsing]

[ The wheels are turning in her head. She knows that she gave Alfred her phone number, but she doesn't think she gave him her address. Midge only told him that she lives in the Upper West Side. Maybe she should be more worried about him coming over.

Despite the fact that she's expecting him, Midge jumps when he knocks on the door. After checking through the peephole to make sure that it's him, she opens the door. ]

Hey...

[ She lets him in. Midge is wearing her robe, but her hair is still down. Thankfully, their conversation had started before she put her hair in curlers.

They look at each other for a moment, Midge stunned into silence for one of the few times in her life. ]

You're here.

[When she opens the door she will find Alfred looking as sharp as usual, dressed in a heavy tan overcoat and blue turtleneck, a smirk already playing at the corners of his lips.]

Indeed I am.

[Despite her being in a robe his eyes stay on hers as he enters her home.]

[ She can’t help but notice that he looks good. He’s a sharp dresser. ]

Can I get you a drink?

[ Midge laughs suddenly, a light and airy sound. ]

I can’t believe you actually came here to say dirty things to my face.

[ She has to admit, that’s ballsy, and the confidence is pretty hot. ]

How about I get you one instead? [He replies with a cheeky grin and pulls a bottle of whiskey out of his coat pocket, there's a red bow wrapped around the top and he passes it to her.]

And it seemed the best course of action, messaging is good and all but it's hard to pick up on tone sometimes.

[doesntsing]

[ She grins at the sight of the whiskey bottle. ]

Oh, you come bearing gifts? We have glasses in the living room.

[ Midge leads the way through the hall to their comfortable living room. The apartment gives off an air of money, but isn’t ostentatious. She retrieves two glasses from the bar cart and placed them on the coffee table before untying the bow and opening the bottle of whiskey.

Is it unladylike to have a drink with a gentleman when you’re in your nightgown and robe? Fortunately, Alfred is the only one here to see her.

She pours a little whiskey in each glass and hands him one of them before joining him on the couch. She takes a sip. ]

Better than a coconut Girl Scout cookie rum cocktail.

[ Alfred doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to cut to the chase of his visit, and Midge wonders if that’s supposed to heighten her anticipation of it. ]

[As they walk through her home Alfred takes note of things, not just the obvious higher class of it but also all the small details that make it a home. Pictures, children's toys, books, and other such things.]

Were you ever a Girl Scout? [He asks after sitting down and taking the offered drink, sipping at it as he watches her. Admiring the way she moves and sits close to him.]

For a few years. [ Midge traces the rim of her glass with a finger and gazes at him, biting her lip. ]

What did you want to tell me, Alfred?

[ Yeah, she’s impatient. He came all the way over here to tell her and show her something, so he must be serious about it. This isn’t a date. If he’s trying to seduce her, then she’s ready for it. ]

[His eyes drift down to watch her finger and then up to her lips as she bites at them, when his gaze shifts back up to hers he lifts one of those heavy brows.]

Bit impatient, aren't you?

[He's teasing because he's good at it and because he's pretty sure she likes it.]

[ She raises an eyebrow back. ]

I’m in my nightgown. I was about to put my curlers in when you said you were going to come over here and not only tell me something, but show me.

[ He’s right though. She likes the teasing. Midge takes another sip of the whiskey. He picked a good one. ]

Forgive me if I’m just a little impatient. [ Her tone is curious. ]

And what a lovely nightgown it is. [He says, his eyes flickering back down to glance at it and the way it hugs her curves.]

But did you really want me to just come up on your doorstop, push you inside and against a wall and put my hands all over you while I kiss you so hard you won't be able to catch your breath?

[ She realizes that she’s not wearing a bra either and that this nightgown is just barely sheer. The shape of her body is just visible under the fabric. ]

That doesn’t seem very gentlemanly of you. I can tell that you like to woo.

But I’m sure you’d rather have pushed me against a wall.

Exactly and while I might have grown up poor I was brought up to be a gentleman.

[His lips twist into a little smirk.]

Maybe. Or maybe I'd rather sit here and admire you a bit before I take you on the floor.

[doesntsing]

Money doesn’t always equate to class.

[ She sips her drink, then her eyes drift to the living room floor. ]

That seems uncomfortable when we have other options, like this couch or my bed.

Isn't the bed too far for someone as impatient as you seem to be?

[doesntsing]

You still haven’t told me what you want to do to me, so maybe I won’t want to take you to my bedroom. Maybe I’ll be appalled and tell you to leave my apartment.

[ Unlikely, but she needs something to counter his absolutely true accusations that she’s being impatient. ]

[He chuckles and shifts a little closer on the couch, technically he has told her a few things he'd like to do but he likes that she's pushing back and challenging him. He's always liked women who do that.]

Maybe I don't need a bedroom.
Maybe I prefer the idea of you stretched out on this sofa, your robe split open and my face between your thighs.

[doesntsing]

[ Midge is, without a doubt, a challenging woman.

Said robe is starting to feel a little warm now that Alfred is being more specific. She pulls idly at the collar. ]

You want me to tug at your hair while you do that?

Absolutely, you are welcome to muck up this 'do as much as you'd like. You can even dig your nails into the nape of my neck or back when you come.

[A small pause as he smiles at her.]

The first time, of course.

[doesntsing]

Oh? You planning to stay down there for a while?

[ She sips her whiskey. ]

You’re very confident. I hope you can back it up. Making a woman come isn’t the easiest thing in the world.

I'm happy to stay down there all night.

[He responds honestly and sips his drink as well.]

It is so long as one is willing to put in the effort and listen.
