Most people know Alfred as being the butler of Bruce Wayne but he's so much more, after the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne he became the boy's legal guardian and then later when Bruce began to show interest in taking down corruption at Wayne Enterprises and all throughout Gotham Alfred stepped into the role as mentor, teacher and friend.
Skills: As a former member of the British Special Air Service he has many skills, some of which include hand to hand combat (he was taught a mix of boxing, judo, krav maga, and aikido), sword fighting, knife throwing, stick/staff fighting, firearms, explosives, manipulation, interrogation and espionage.
Things to Note: The Gotham version of Alfred is still a gentleman but compared to the comics he is far less proper, he was born in Whitechapel and grew up being thought of as 'East London trash'. He knows what it's like to have very little which is partially why he strives to make sure Bruce is aware of his privilege and the good he can do as both Batman AND Bruce Wayne.

Before Gotham
There was Alfred.
As a young man from East London, Alfred grew up poor and was often thought of as being lesser since his parents were both servants, his father a butler and his mother a maid and then later a nanny. This constant judgment fuelled his desire to be 'something more' and despite his father's outrage at the age of 16 Alfred joined the British services. During training he showed remarkable promise and was shifted to be a part of the British Special Air Service aka SAS.
It was here that he met his two best friends, Bazza and Dave Boy, and after ten years in the service together the three of them decided to leave the service and strike out on their own by creating Pennyworth Security.
Skills: Alfred learned a lot while in the SAS, such as hand to hand combat (he was taught a mix of boxing, judo, krav maga, and aikido), sword fighting, knife throwing, stick/staff fighting, firearms, explosives, manipulation, interrogation and espionage.
Things to Note: This younger version of Alfred is far more stupid than his regular version, he can be impulsive, cheeky, argumentative and often makes mistakes. But he still has the same good heart.
